What Is Cheek Lift Surgery?

Over time, gravity can work against your face and cause your cheeks to droop and sag. If you’ve lost definition and contour around your cheek bones and the middle of your face, it may be time to consider a cheek lift.

A cheek lift is a combination of procedures that can rejuvenate and refresh your appearance. It is usually performed with face lift and neck lift.

When to Choose a Cheek Lift

A cheek lift addresses signs of aging beneath the eyes down to the folds around the mouth.

Consider a cheek lift if you have:

  • Heaviness below the cheeks
  • Hollowness or bags beneath the eyes
  • Loose skin around the nose and mouth
  • Facial fine lines and wrinkles

We offer a variety of methods to rejuvenate the cheeks and mid-face including facial implants, a facelift and non-surgical dermal fillers also known as Liquid Facelift. The best treatment for you will depend on a variety of factors such as the extent of your facial aging as well as your cosmetic goals.

Cheek Lift Recovery

Cheek lift require some time off from work and normal routines to rest and recover. We will provide you with specific instructions regarding your diet and dental hygiene. Visible swelling and bruising will gradually resolve over the course of several weeks. Most patients feel up to resuming work and other normal routines within a week of surgery. The results are permanent.

A mid facelift requires downtime from normal daily routines. Expect some swelling, bruising and discomfort. Stitches are removed within 5-10 days, at which point you should feel comfortable returning to work. It will take time for swelling to fully subside and the full results may not be evident for a few months.

Dermal filler treatments generally do not require any downtime and results are often instantly visible. You should be able to resume normal routines right away. Your skin may be slightly sensitive to sun exposure. Minor swelling, redness or bruising can occur at the injection sites. These side effects are temporary and should resolve in a few days. Final results can last anywhere from six month to two years, depending on the product.

All surgical procedures, including a cheek lift, present a degree of risk and uncertainty. These risks will be discussed in depth during your consultation. Though uncommon, risks may include contour irregularities, fluid accumulation, sensory changes, infection, adverse reaction to anesthesia and undesirable cosmetic outcome.

Because dermal fillers are non-invasive, they present a lower risk of serious side effects. Following treatment, there is the chance that you will experience some swelling, redness or pain at the injection site. Some patients also complain of temporary nausea or headaches.

Cheek Lift Surgery with Dr. Jaibaji

The specific details will depend on the procedure selected for your cheek lift.

Cheek lift surgery takes 1-2 hours to complete and requires general anesthesia or intravenous sedation. Implants can be placed internally through an incision inside your mouth where your upper lip reaches the gum line, or externally through an incision made in your lower eyelids.

A mid facelift also requires general anesthesia or intravenous sedation, but usually requires 2-4 hours to complete. Incisions lines start near the mid-scalp and curve around the ears, sometimes into the lower scalp. Underlying tissue is restructured, excess fat is removed and sagging skin is trimmed and tightened.

Dermal fillers are considered a “lunchtime” treatment. Most procedural steps can be completed within one hour. Once your face has been cleansed, we will inject the appropriate amount of filler beneath the surface of your skin using an ultra-fine needle. The product is then gently massaged into the skin for even distribution.

Cheek fillers

This an alternative to cheek lift surgery. It has many advantages such as minimal downtime, less cost and less pain. There are many types of fillers; Juvederm, restyles, Sculptra, etc.

Cheek filler cost

During your consultation at Jaibaji Plastic Surgery information on the cost will be provided based on your goals.
