Breast lift surgery, also known as mastopexy, raises, firms and re-contours the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to reshape and support the new breast.
As women age, their skin begins to lose elasticity, causing their breasts to sag. Significant weight loss, along with pregnancy and nursing, can contribute to sagging of the breasts. Breast lift surgery works by trimming away excess skin and tissue and tightening the remaining skin, thus resizing and lifting the breasts symmetrically into a more attractive position that looks natural, shapely, and perky.

The Breast Lift Procedure
During breast lift surgery, Dr. Jaibaji creates incisions along the base of the breast, around the areola, and between the areola and the base of the breast. He then removes most of the skin in the areas below the nipple and relocates the nipple to a higher and more natural-looking position. The skin is pulled taut and sutured in its new position. The result is firmer and more youthful-looking breasts. The breast lift procedure is usually completed in one to three hours. Many women combine a breast lift with augmentation surgery to enhance both the size and shape of the breasts.
Recovery from Breast Lift Surgery
The healing process following breast lift surgery may take a significant amount of time. Patients should expect pain, discomfort, bruising, and swelling after surgery, which can be alleviated with pain medication prescribed by Dr. Jaibaji. He also recommends that patients wear surgical bras and avoid lying on their stomachs for the first few weeks after surgery. The visibility of the incisions will subside, though they will never fully disappear. However, many women find that their new, shapelier busts are well worth the small marks left after surgery.
