The Breast Augmentation Procedure
Breast augmentation surgery can increase the size of the breasts or correct asymmetry between them. The procedure may also be able to correct sagging of the breasts that develops through the natural aging process. During the breast augmentation procedure, Dr. Jaibaji creates an incision either beneath the breast, around the areola, or under the arm, depending on what is best for the cosmetic goals of the patient. Dr. Jaibaji makes the discreet placement of incisions one of his top priorities so that patients are left with minimal visible scarring. Next, an implant filled with either sterile saline or viscous silicone gel is inserted either directly under the breast tissue or behind the chest muscle, increasing the size of the breast. After the implant is in place, Dr. Jaibaji closes the incisions with sutures. The procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia and completed in a few hours.
Recovery from Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation surgery requires a good amount of recovery time. Breast Lift
As women age, their skin begins to lose elasticity, causing their breasts to sag. Significant weight loss, along with pregnancy and nursing, can contribute to sagging of the breasts as well. The Breast Lift Procedure
During breast lift surgery, Dr. Jaibaji creates incisions along the base of the breast, around the areola, and between the areola and the base of the breast. He then removes most of the skin in the areas below the nipple and relocates the nipple to a higher and more natural-looking position. The skin is pulled taut and sutured in its new position. The Breast Reconstruction Procedure
Breast reconstruction surgery is an extensive operation that is often completed in multiple stages over a period of months. In the breast reconstruction procedure, a balloon expander is inserted into the breast area beneath the skin and chest muscle in order to stretch the area out gently over the course of several weeks. During this time, Dr. Jaibaji will continue to add liquid to the balloon until the skin has stretched enough to accommodate the new breast mass. Once the skin has expanded to the desired size, Dr. Jaibaji inserts either a silicone or saline implant to recreate the breast. He can also use the patient's own skin, fat, and muscle tissue gathered from the abdomen, back, or buttocks to fill in the missing breast in a procedure called flap reconstruction. Flap breast reconstruction results in a new breast that looks and feels all natural. In some cases, flap breast reconstruction can be combined with tummy tuck surgery for a complete makeover.
